Renovations Begin with a Plan
SUNY Oneonta science students and faculty can look forward to newly renovated lab spaces and classrooms in the Janet R. Perna Science building. A significant gift from Dr. Robert “Bob” Vitkus ’74 will provide funding for the renovation.

When Bette Stark-Harrold ’77 visited her friend at SUNY Oneonta and took a tour of campus, “I knew I wanted to go there.” Now retired, Bette enjoyed a rewarding career as an occupational educator, serving more than 30 years with the Boards of Cooperative Educational Services.
The Marx Family: Making a Lasting Impact
Allen ’78 and Cheech Marx first met in Oneonta as students at SUNY Oneonta and Hartwick College, respectively. Their deep commitment to philanthropy has led them to establish the Marx Family Foundation, which supports several scholarships at SUNY Oneonta, including the Marx Family Scholarship for Community Service and the ITK Scholarship.

Growing up in the Bronx, Arlene Erbacher ’73 always regretted not being able to have a dog. Since she has become able to, they have been an integral part of her life. Another long-term goal was leaving a legacy at her SUNY Oneonta alma mater through the College at Oneonta Foundation. She was inspired by her time on campus and hoped she would eventually be in a position to “pay it forward.”

William ’65 ’69G and Cynthia ’66 Jachmich Goertemoeller have been loyal donors in the 55 years since they have graduated. Beginning with contributions to the Fund for Oneonta, endowing the Goertemoeller Theater Scholarship, and more recently supporting the Student Emergency Fund, Bill and Cynthia’s legacy will continue on with their scholarship.
