William ’65 ’69G and Cynthia ’66 Jachmich Goertemoeller have been loyal donors in the 55 years since they have graduated. Beginning with contributions to the Fund for Oneonta, endowing the Goertemoeller Theater Scholarship, and more recently supporting the Student Emergency Fund, Bill and Cynthia’s legacy will continue on with their scholarship. Both Bill and Cynthia believe that SUNY Oneonta not only prepared them well for their vocation as teachers but also for their avocation—their shared love of the theater. This is why they established their scholarship at SUNY Oneonta for a theater student with financial need. The Goertemoellers are funding their scholarship through current and planned gifts. As savvy donors, Bill and Cynthia use yearly qualified charitable distributions from their retirement plan to build their scholarship endowment now. “Instead of taking the required minimum distributions and paying taxes, we direct them to SUNY Oneonta and reduce our taxes.”
